Dunn Gets Life Without Parole
Update: A judge in Jacksonville, Florida sentenced Michael Dunn to life in prison without parole on October 17 in the murder of Jordan Russell Davis at a gas station. During the sentencing, Dunn apologized to the Davis family, saying if he could turn back time, he would act differently. Jordan Davis died from gunshot wounds inflicted by Dunn following a dispute over loud music.
Lucia K. McBath, the mother of Jordan Russell Davis, released a statement following the jury finding Michael Dunn guilty of first degree murder.
“I am grateful for this jury and their sensitivity and ability to see the truth,” McBath said. “I am grateful to our attorneys, Angela Corey, Erin Wolfson and John Guy, for their belief in the goodness of Jordan and his friends. I am grateful for all in the city of Jacksonville and the country who have supported and prayed over us. And, I am grateful to my family and friends for carrying me through it all.”
“Justice for Jordan has been won,” McBath proclaimed. “To God be the glory.”
McBath said she can, now, devote her energies to promoting awareness regarding gun safety. “Now the real work begins,” she said.
